Internship Program: Kannonyama Fruit Garden, Wakayama, Japan

Wakayama prefecture, located 25 km south east of Kansai International Airport has been well known as the biggest producer of Mikan, Japanese orange.

Founded in the land of fruits in 1911, Kannonyama Fruit Garden is a pioneer in vitalizing local agriculture and global network. Through internship, we believe we can exchange common interests in agriculture with interns come from around the world and achieve mutual benefit.

Our interns started in 2011. They found the opportunity through the internet.

Interns have diverse backgrounds and skills. They all become interns in the hope of experiencing world-class fruits and the farming to improving their knowledge of production, processing, shipping and marketing for their future career and experiencing the local culture.

Oct to Jan Farm Harvesting Operation; Fruits pick-up

All year round Farm Cultivation management of fruits

・Fruit thinning, mowing, fertilizing, irrigation, etc.

Processing facility Manufacturing work

・Fruits packing, processing work, attaching stickers, etc.

Office Creating English homepage for more global opportunity: Currently the shipping goes to Taiwan and Hong Kong. We’d like to expand the market in other countries.

●Do I need to be physically and mentally strong enough?

Yes, you work regularly possibility of weekends at times, and in a little adverse weather conditions.

Willing to learn/already learning Japanese and has the patience and understanding of communicating with a language barrier.

●When does the internship begin and how long does it last?

You can apply in all season. It’s preferred to stay more than a week.

●What is this going to cost me?

No training cost, no accommodation cost

No water rate, no electricity cost

Wage: 1,000 JPY per day as the cost of meals
